We are very pleased to announce that the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and ASF Shetland are funding weaver in residence posts in Yell for three years from 2011. The posts are for four months, include a fee, accommodation in a local home, loom use and materials from our yarn store. In addition, there are opportunities for networking, business development and event management.
The posts are part-time (20 hours a week) dedicated to ASF Shetland, and are an ideal opportunity to learn, develop and help create products and workshops for the organisation. The remainder of the time is for the resident to use as they see fit. Each year, the focus of the post changes; in 2012 the incumbent will be working principally to help Shetland makers develop their own practice, and to create a new product/ pattern for ASF Shetland to produce and sell. In future years, the project will focus on working with Shetland College students, and finally community.
For more details and to apply, please download the Weaver in residence application form, contact Andy Ross by email or on +44 (0)1957 744 355.
